My friend, a young mother of two, works as a cleaning lady while her two kids are in school or while husband is home from work. Another Mom bakes the best brownies and cassava cake that tastes like heaven that her friends forces her to sell to them. The Holiday Season is her busiest time of the year with orders from her friends and friends of friends.
There are several crafts that are marketable and home based. Dressmaking or curtain making could be a lucrative business. Along with several classmates, I completed a short course in curtain making. So that when the bug bites me, I can make a passable curtain for our home. But one of my classmates, Nene, made a giant step forward. She started sewing for her sisters and eventually for others. The network of mothers, friends and associates one has can help boost such home-based business.
Finding your”niche” is essential in your search for a home-based-career. What do you like to do? Can you imagine yourself doing it for a long time? I wanted a job that was internet based. I am fascinated by the information available on the internet and for a while I applied on several “job-for stay home moms”. Determining if it were a scam or not would be hard to verify specially those that require you pay to out. But there are others that are note-worthy.
After a long, long search and since all my children are in school I now work as a web researcher. I just hope that companies give Moms like me such opportunities. Many stay home Moms are educated, having studied in outstanding colleges and universities, are dedicated and hard working.
