I have been working for almost year now as a web researcher and receive my salary through atm-payroll account. Since a letter has been specifically sent to the banking institution servicing our company that I was on a payroll account, I could not imagine them making a mistake on this, moreso that this is a computer generated task. A standard banking Rule is that your maintaining balance should not be lesser than Three Thousand Pesos otherwise the bank will deduct a service charge of 200 pesos at the end of the month. On the otherhand, payroll accounts need only 200 pesos as maintaining balance. In short I was deducted a total of 400 pesos (Transaction period: Jan-Jun 2008). I was instructed to go to the bank to inform them of the mistake!!! In otherwords, if you have not noticed those deductions then goodbye money.
The question that bugged me was that how many more unsuspecting people whose hard earned money are deducted from their accounts slowly and quietly and how much have these banking institutions “earned” through such anomalies transactions. My suggestion, particularly for payroll accounts, is to enroll your account through online banking so you can closely monitor your monies. Besides they have such good services that you can avail of such as Money Transfer, Payment of Bills, Easy Loans etc. Happy Banking!!
